Who We Are

A boutique therapy practice offering personalized mental health services to individuals, intimate relationships, and families, broadly and inclusively defined.

We lead with authenticity, not conformity. We show up as ourselves and meet you where you’re at. That’s where therapy begins.

Our Services

Therapy isn’t prescriptive, it’s collaborative. An opportunity to combine your expertise with ours. Whether you're showing up individually, in a partnership, or with family, we meet at the intersection of lived experience and clinical strategy to move toward what feels authentic and aligned.

Our Values

Clinically Bold

Therapy is never one-size-fits-all. We offer culturally attuned, trauma-informed care that draws from advanced clinical training and adapts to your unique story, identities, and relationships.

Research devoted

We don’t just apply research, we contribute to it. Our work is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed care and informed by active contributions to clinical research, ensuring therapy is both culturally responsive and continually evolving.

Very Queer

Queerness is more than identity, it’s a clinical lens and theoretical framework. Our practice challenges harmful norms and imagines freer, more expansive ways of being, for anyone seeking to live with more authenticity, curiosity, and agency

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

“Are you a friend of Dorothy?”

was a coded question used primarily in the mid-20th century by LGBTQ+ people to discreetly identify one another at a time when being openly queer was unsafe. The phrase created a sense of solidarity, signaling feelings of affirmation, connection, and safety. Similar emotions felt when on the receiving end of effective therapy.

This practice was built on the belief that healing happens through connection, authenticity, and liberation. These are values queer and trans communities have long embodied. Whether you identify within the community or not, everyone can benefit from it.

This practice’s dedication to clinical excellence is intrinsically linked to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strive to create an inclusive space where all individuals feel valued and respected, recognizing that such an environment is essential for delivering the highest quality of care.

Friend of Dorothy Therapy Network is dedicated to creating a therapeutic environment where all clients, students, and colleagues, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or background—feel safe, respected, and supported. The practice actively engages in addressing systemic oppression and bias, both within the clinical process and broader mental health systems, and is committed to promoting equitable, affirming access to care for everyone.

If you take issue with the values outlined above, this likely isn’t the practice for you.
